These terms cover your use of the Loans Vancouver website. In short: the site is free, it offers information plus a referral link, it is neither a lender nor an adviser, and any loan you sign later, payday or installment, is a contract with the lender under British Columbia law.
What this site is and is not
Loans Vancouver is a publisher. It explains how payday and installment loans work in Vancouver and across Metro Vancouver under BC and federal rules, and its apply link connects you to a separate application platform used by licensed Canadian lenders. The site does not lend money, does not make credit decisions and never receives your application. It holds no payday lender licence because it does not lend.
Accuracy and updates
We work from the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act, the Payday Loans Regulation, the federal Criminal Interest Rate Regulations and the guidance Consumer Protection BC publishes, and we recheck the figures when any of them change. The "last updated" date at the top of each page shows when it was last reviewed.
A page can fall behind a change, and where a figure here and a lender's disclosure disagree, the disclosure is what you sign. Lenders set their own terms inside the legal limits: a payday fee at or under $14 per $100 borrowed, and an installment APR at or under the 35% federal ceiling. Decline any offer above either limit.

The referral relationship
When you click apply you leave this site, and if a loan funds, the lender pays us a referral fee. That fee is a matter between the lender and us; it does not change your fee, your rate or your payments, and it is never charged to you. The about page describes the arrangement and the privacy page covers what the link carries.
Your loan agreement is with the lender
Any loan you take is a contract between you and the licensed lender named on the agreement, governed by that agreement and by BC law. A payday loan falls under Part 6.1 of the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act and the Payday Loans Regulation. The 50% of net pay limit, the right to cancel at no cost up to the end of the second day the lender is open for business after the first advance, the rollover ban and the instalment plan on a third loan within 62 days all come from that law and from the lender's licence with Consumer Protection BC, not from these terms. They apply the same way in Kerrisdale and in Surrey.
An installment loan runs under its own agreement and the federal ceiling, and its prepayment and default clauses belong to the lender, not to us. Complaints about a lender's conduct go to the regulator, as the complaints policy explains.

Acceptable use
You may read, link to and quote short passages from this site with attribution. You may not copy pages wholesale, scrape the site, present its content as your own or use it to send unsolicited messages. The site is written for adults in Canada, and the age of majority in British Columbia is 19.
Limits on liability
The site is provided as it is. We accept no liability for decisions you make on the strength of it, for the conduct of any lender or the platform, or for the site or the platform being unavailable when you need them. Where BC or federal law does not allow a limit like this, the limit does not apply.

Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms when the site or the law changes, and the date at the top moves when we do. Using the site after a change means you accept the revised terms. Questions go to the address on the contact page.
