Applying through Loans Vancouver takes about five minutes and four steps: a short online form, an income check through a read-only bank connection or your pay records, a lender match that ends in a written offer, and an agreement you e-sign before the lender sends the money by Interac e-transfer. One application reaches payday and installment lenders, and the offer is where the two part ways.
What to have ready
You need four things before you start: a Canadian chequing account that receives your pay, your employer's name and pay schedule, a working mobile number and email address, and government photo identification.
| Item | Why the lender needs it |
|---|---|
| Chequing account with employment deposits | Income verification and the e-transfer destination |
| Employer and pay cycle | Caps a payday loan at half of your net pay in the term; sets an installment payment you can carry after rent |
| Mobile number and email | Verification codes, the agreement and the e-transfer notice |
| Photo identification | Name match and proof that you are 19, the age of majority in BC |
Step 1: the application form
The apply button on any page opens the application platform we work with, where a five minute form asks for your address, employer, pay frequency, the amount you want and your banking details. None of that passes through this site. Applying is free, and the match does not place a hard inquiry on your credit file. An address in Burnaby or North Vancouver goes through the same form as one in Kitsilano.
Ask for an amount your pay supports. BC limits a payday loan to 50% of your net pay in the term, so a biweekly deposit of $1600 net supports at most $800, which costs $112 and repays $912. If the bill will take several paycheques to clear, ask for an installment amount instead.

Step 2: income verification
Most lenders verify income through a read-only bank connection: you sign in to online banking through a secure window, the lender sees about 90 days of deposits and debits, and the connection closes. It takes about a minute, it cannot move money, and the lender never sees your password. Pay stubs and statements also work, but a person has to read them, so allow an extra business day.
Payroll from a hospital, a terminal operator or a downtown tech office reads cleanly on a statement. Cash tips from a Robson Street restaurant never reach the account, so a server is sized on the payroll deposits alone.
Step 3: the lender match and the offer
The platform sends your application to licensed lenders whose rules fit your income, amount and province, and a lender that wants to lend replies with an offer stating the cost in dollars. This is the step where the two products differ.
A payday offer states the amount, the fee, the total and the due date, which is usually your next payday. The fee cannot exceed $14 per $100 borrowed, and the lender must show its own figure before you sign. Check it against the cost figures on the homepage and the payday loans Vancouver page.
An installment offer states the APR, the payment, the number of payments and the total cost. The APR must sit at or under the 35% federal ceiling, and the payment date can often be set to match your payday. Check it against the installment loans Vancouver page, and untick any optional insurance before you accept.
Some applicants see one of each. Take the one that fits the bill: a $300 gap before a biweekly deposit is a payday loan, a damage deposit on a new suite is an installment loan.

Step 4: e-signature and funding
You sign the agreement on your phone and the lender sends the money by Interac e-transfer, which lands within minutes when autodeposit is on and waits for you to accept it when it is not. Payday lenders mostly fund during weekday business hours. Installment lenders review the credit file first, so their money usually arrives the same business day or the next. The e-transfer loans Vancouver page covers evening and weekend timing.
How long the whole thing takes
From the form to money in your account, a payday loan usually takes an hour or two on a weekday and an installment loan usually lands the same business day or the one after.
| Stage | Payday loan | Installment loan |
|---|---|---|
| Form | About 5 minutes | About 5 minutes |
| Bank verification | About 1 minute | About 1 minute |
| Lender review and offer | Minutes during business hours | An hour to a business day |
| E-signature | A few minutes | A few minutes |
| E-transfer arrival | Minutes with autodeposit | Same business day or the one after |
A form sent from the West Coast Express on a Friday evening usually waits for Monday morning, so a bill due on the weekend is a Thursday application.

If no lender makes an offer
A decline usually comes from the income or the account, not the credit score. The common causes are no regular employment deposit, a newly opened account, a run of NSF charges, a payday loan already open, or an amount larger than half of the pay in the term allows. The bad credit loans Vancouver page lists what a lender treats as a hard stop.
Your rights after you sign
Under the BC Payday Loans Regulation you can cancel a payday loan at no cost up to the end of the second day the lender is open for business after the first advance, the lender cannot roll the loan over, and a third loan within 62 days must be repaid through an instalment plan over at least three pay periods. Consumer Protection BC licenses payday lenders and takes complaints when one breaks those rules.
An installment loan runs under its own agreement and the federal ceiling, so read the prepayment clause before you sign. The about page explains how this site earns its fee and why that fee never comes from you.
